Dispute data the FMCSA has for your company - DATA Qs
Typical errors involve mistakes on inspections, accidents improperly listed and inspections that do not belong to your company (wrong DOT number used).
Protect your Safety Rating - Check your inspections closely!
One of the most important elements of the CSA 2010 initiative is that all violations discovered during an inspection will count against your safety rating, not just out of service items.
Protect your company against unwarranted or incorrect  violations being assessed to your safety rating.  Check all inspection reports to make sure the inspector is correct in the violations which are listed.  If the inspector made a mistake or you don’t agree with the inspector’s findings go to DATA Qs.  DATA Qs allows you to contest the inspector’s findings.  The best defense is a good offense!
This is from an inspection conducted on one of Signal Safety’s customer’s trucks at a POE in Utah.

Example of incorrect violation listed:

395.8 Log violation, driver fails to log post trip inspection.

In the interpretations to the regulations, 396.11 Question #25 specifically states that there is no requirement for a driver to conduct a “Post Trip Inspection.”  The driver is required to fill out a written report.   If there is no requirement for the inspection, there is little reason to expect a driver to log that, which he/she is not required to do in the first place.
